An agreement was signed between Tufail Chemical and Desmet Ballestra to set-up a 40,000 metric tons sulphonic acid plant at Port Qasim Industrial area. Tufail Chemical is well known for manufacturing industrial chemicals in country and Desmet Ballestra of Italy a renowned group for chemical.
The plant will save foreign exchange up to 100 million dollars per year by import substitution and create several new jobs opportunities. The Italian plant and machinery suppliers hold 70 percent share in the world market for sulhonic acid. This project will meet entire demand of the country and surplus quantity will be exported worth 40 million dollars per year. Plant will start production in first quarter of 2009.-PR
