Jamaat-e-Islami chief, Qazi Hussain Ahmed on Saturday said that PML-N chief also broke promises and written agreements, which he made with APDM and JI on the issue of elections and therefore there is no difference between him (Sharif) and others. He said that Sharif ditched the APDM and participated in elections by violating the agreement he signed with other parties in the opposition.
He, however, announced his party's support to PML-N presidential candidate former chief justice of Pakistan, Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui candidature to presidency as being "neutral candidate". Addressing the members of Karachi Bar Association (KBA) here, he said that this support was not to a candidate fielded by PML-N but to a person who is neutral. The highest office of the country shall be occupied by person who could consider and treat every Pakistani alike and should be neutral in all respects, he said.
He criticised continued operation in Wana, Swat and other volatile frontier areas. Qazi Hussain Ahmed paid glowing tributes to the lawyers of Karachi and said that the sacrifices by lawyers of Karachi are more as they sustained a long struggle despite all odds, faced barbarism from armed youth of a local pressure group. He also urged the restoration of superior court judges and particularly Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. He said that Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was not being restored as he took up the issue of missing persons.
