FDE decides to reinstate, regularise contractual teachers

Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has decided to reinstate or regularise services of contractual teachers in light of Islamabad High Court's verdict that came in their favour on different occasions.
Talking to media persons on Monday after prize distribution ceremony of FG Model School I-10/2 here, Directorate's Director General Attiqur Rehman said that FDE had compiled a summary to the Prime Minister for approval to start the process soon. Replying to a question, he said the directorate had no plan to challenge the court's ruling at any forum and the summary recommended all teachers who won case in the court.
He said there was a shortage of teachers in the educational institutions of the capital and the FED was taking steps to induct about 496 teachers next month as part of strategy to overcome the shortfall. Answering another question, the DG dispelled the impression that evening shift in vogue in the capital's educational institutions were being phased out, saying the system would stay.
"We are not going to do with evening shift system in the educational institutions, these are popular with the students and parents" the DG remarked. Earlier, addressing the ceremony, he asked the students and teachers of the institution to continue with the same spirit of hard work to achieve a bright future for the country.
He said the FDE was taking concrete steps to make the capital's colleges and schools as modal institutions for the rest of the country to follow for national development. He also announced 10,000 rupees each as cash prize for Athar Azeem who secured first position in SSC exams held under the FDE and Abdul Ghafoor as best teacher for this year.
Principal Mehar Shah Niazi highlighted the achievements of the institutions, saying it was playing a crucial role in promoting quality education. Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) Head Dr Muhammad Tufail also spoke on the occasion. Besides parents, the ceremony was attended by heads of all educational institutions of the Islamabad Capital Territory.
