02 Sep, 2008

Imamia Students Organisation (ISO) on Monday observed a protest to condemn the growing incidents of sectarian killing, extremism and terrorism in Dera Ismail Khan (DIK), Hangu, and Parachinar. It also protested against the Government's failure to protect the lives and properties of the Shiites.
More than 200 young shiites observed a sit-in demo at Chowk Kumharan-wala, a major intersection of Multan creating a nearly two-hour traffic blockade. Ali Faraz, Maulana Iqtidar Naqvi, Maulana Zulfikar Haideri and Saqlain Haideri led the protest.
The participants shouted slogans against the United States for promoting extremism and terrorism. They also raised slogans against Pakistan Government's failure to save the lives of shiites. 'We can't stay silent over the large-scale killings of our community members. 31 of our members were killed in recent suicide attack in Dera Ismail Khan and we have decide to launch protest drive across the country,' said Maulana Zulfikar Haideri.
