Taliban accounts blocked

The State Bank of Pakistan has instructed all banks to block all accounts of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, and submit complete report. The SBP issued these instructions on Monday following imposition of a ban on Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan by the federal government.
Banks and DFIs have also been instructed by the SBP to completely close the accounts of the banned outfit and provide details of accounts. The details sought by SBP include account number, amount held in account, transactions, besides name, CNIC and address, and phone number of persons who were operating or making transactions. Banks have been told to submit details latest by September 10, 2008.
