Ulema urged to play role to promote religious harmony

Sectarianism and religious extremism have shattered the unity of Muslims and we ought to do something to eliminate them and prove that Muslims are peace-lovers, Punjab Minister for Religious Affairs and Auqaf Haji Ehsanuddin said. He exhorted upon Ulema to play their role to promote religious harmony, unity, solidarity and for the betterment of law and order.
While presiding over a meeting of Ittehad-e-Bain-ul-Muslimeen, he said that Ittehad-e-Bain-ul-Muslimeen Committees have been activated on the directions of Chief Minister at district level.
DCOs and DPOs will supervise the security arrangements especially at Jumma and Taravih prayers in the holy month of Ramazan to avoid any unpleasant situation. He asked for the co-operation of citizens in order to get hold of criminals and terrorists.
Religious scholars on the occasion suggested steps for foolproof security arrangements and for the establishment and activation of Peace Committees at 'Thana' level. They also requested the federal government to make sure that public is facilitated by Wapda by not resorting to load shedding during Sehr and Iftar timings.
