City Police Officer (CPO), Multan, Syed Saud Aziz, here on Monday ordered all police officials to ensure strict security arrangements in Multan to avoid any untoward incident during Ramazan. Presiding over a meeting of the officials held here on Monday, he reviewed all security arrangements made for 600 mosques and 30 imambargahs of the city.
During the meeting CPO was informed that 2000 police officials and private security guards would be deployed for the security of worship places in Islamabad during Ramazan. Mosque committees will also deploy volunteers and private security guards at entrances for internal security.
Saud Aziz directed police officers to ensure foolproof security during the holy month. The meeting also decided that only one gate of mosques and imambargahs would be kept open and mosque committees' members would conduct thorough checking of the faithful with metal detectors.
Furthermore, he directed police to launch a special campaign against professional beggars and not to allow them gather outside the worship places. Police will also ask mosque committees not to allow night stay to any stranger in mosques and imambargahs, he said.
CPO directed all SHOs to carry out special checking at hotels, motels, inns and guesthouses in their respective areas to ensure security. He further appealed citizens to contact Rescue 15 in case of any unclaimed luggage or any suspicious person.
