Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has congratulated Rawalpindi's Young Rising Stars Women Football Club's President Ghiasuddin Baloch, coach Shahid Ahmed Ahmed, skipper Sana Mehmood and players for maintaining Punjab province dominance in entire history of National Women Soccer Championship.
Rising Star clinched the fourth edition last Saturday to join Punjab's other three victorious teams as gold medallist since the event launched three years ago - Punjab (2005), Wapda (2006) and Punjab University (2007).
"Local Clubs are regularly getting affiliation with the PFF showing their interest in women football, and giant-killing act of Rising Star will give potency to Women Soccer in Pakistan.
The way they brushed aside formidable teams one by one speaks of great dedication, commitment of club's officials and splendid display of unknown girls who proved that Rawalpindi is well-equipped with talented male and female footballers," said Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Secretary General Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi.
Young Rising Star Club was formed in April 2007 and they picked Islamabad's Beaconhouse School System for their training camp two months later. The interest shown by girls of this club was to such an extent that PFF asked them to field teams in their annual national event. Punjab Football Association (PFA) President Muhammad Arshad Khan Lodhi also praised the felicitated the team for showing thrilling performance in the event.
