Partly Facetious: defending the indefensible and failing

02 Sep, 2008

"McCain got a woman as running mate."
"Brilliant idea I say. Women are more decorative, and need I say more focused and committed, certainly more loyal..."
"And there is no in-built bias in your assessment?"
"We all have our bias - to claim otherwise is to lie. Look at Zardari's defendants - the two women who have been gracing our TV more than any other and have been making all sorts of allegations against every one opposed to his candidacy."
"More loyal than the king I say."
"Indeed reminiscent of a bygone era."
"That era is not that long gone - about a week or so I think."
"But before and right after these gentle women attack Mian Sahib for not keeping his promises, they go on for a minute or two as to how they respect him and how they do not hold a grudge against him for it."
"Great tactics to divert attention away from what Zardari said about the three or four agreements he signed with Mian Sahib and reneged on."
"Their defence of their leader is not working I think. I believe that these women are good but they are trying to defend the indefensible and they are failing."
"I guess, so McCain got a woman as running mate?"
"A rather attractive woman who can certainly take on Biden. And don't forget it somehow detracts from the minority status of Obama for women still don't have the same rights as white males in the US."
"That's certainly true and what about our country? Who is the minority here?"
"I am not sure - couldn't be the Jiyalas today."
"What about the Nawalas, Mian Sahib's supporters?"
"Nope."
"The Q league?"
"Half is going to vote for Mian Sahib's presidential candidate I believe with or without the Chaudhrys' approval."
"Ah yes, I see. It's the Chaudhrys that are in the minority?"
"They are trying to become the majority too."
"Ah, the politics of power in Pakistani."
