IHC issues notices to SSP, SHO in illegal detention case

The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday issued notices to Senior Superintendent of Police and SHO Abpara police station in a case filed by Khalid Khawja, President Defence of Human Rights, against his illegal detention by the police. A single bench of Chief Justice Sardar Mohammad Aslam issued the notices and adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
Khalid Khawja in the petition said that he was picked up by the police on the orders of former president Pervez Musharraf, former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. The petitioner had prayed for registration of FIR against former head of state and chief executive, former interior minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, Islamabad Chief Commissioner Khalid Pervez and the then deputy commissioner Mohammad Ali and others for allegedly abducting him on January 26, 2007.
