Need to strengthen parliamentary system stressed

Pakistan Muslim League-N Secretary General International Affairs Sheikh Kaiser Mehmood has called for taking steps for strengthening parliamentary system to effectively face the challenges by the country. Mehmood said here Wednesday that the PPP should play role in scraping 58-2B and other amendments from the constitution as per its promises to ensure supremacy of parliament.
He underlined the need for ridding the country of policies of Pervez Musharraf and said there was no logic for continuing his controversial policies. He underlined the need for promotion of politics of principles to effectively tackle problems facing the country. "PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif has been playing an important role in promoting constructive politics in the country", he added.
He said the politicians who change their stance time and again and do not honour promises must change their political philosophy and adopt positive approach. He said Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was fully aware of importance of agreements among political forces, and if she were alive today, all deposed judges including Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry would have been reinstated.
He said the whole nation accepts Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry as Chief Justice of Pakistan and Pakistan cannot afford any more extra constitutional and anti-federation steps. Moreover, PML-N K.S.A Central Secretary General Chaudhry Saeed Ahmad Jutt said that the country has got rid of Pervez Musharraf but regrettably his policies are still being pursued in the country.
Speaking at a meeting here on Wednesday, he said restoration of some judges of choice against Murree Declaration is not acceptable to the PML-N. "If Murree Declaration was against constitution and law, why did PPP signed it", he questioned. He said people would not tolerate any hindrance in the way of restoration of judges, as lawyer's movement cannot be bulldozed through tactics like restoration of eight judges of Punjab High Court.
Chaudhry Saeed Ahmad said PPP breached trust of PML-N's leadership by not consulting on the issue of nomination of candidate for the office of President and forced it to walk out of ruling coalition by ridiculing accords for reinstatement of judges.
