04 Sep, 2008

Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled (Labard) has urged the government to arrange proper facilities for the disabled in the public parks and buildings. Labard members in its governing body meeting said that humanitarians could play a vital role in rehabilitating the disabled, as these special people are suffering hard due to lack of facilities and resources.
They also said that more than 35 million Pakistani people are affected by the curse of disability and a number of disabled people are compelled to beg in absence of proper social or governmental attention. Labard members further, said that with a little attention these people could become an active segment of the society.
Further, they said that developed countries are giving special attention to the disabled persons. Not only buildings have special ramps but also facilities are being provided to all public places. Labard has also arranged jobs for these disabled persons with an objective to encourage them to take bold stand against their physical disability they have been going through. Finally the Labard meeting urged philanthropists of our society to donate Zakat for the noble cause of rehabilitating the disabled.
