Jama'at-e-Islami Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmed has said that they will accept the results of presidential elections because they do not want confrontation as it will only lead to martial law. He said that the presidential elections were part of democratic process.
He said this while talking to the reporters on the opening of the "Qawareer Fashion Hijab centre" in Mansoora here on Wednesday. He also announced that they would vote for former justice Saeed-uz-Zaman Siddiqui in the presidential elections.
He criticised Pakistan Muslim League(N) Quaid Nawaz Sharif for accepting the results of the general elections, whereas the Jama'at-e-Islami's stand was that they would not participate in the elections without the independent election commission, restoration of judges and restoration of the Constitution on the position of October 12,1999.
He said that presidentship of Asif Ali Zardari was not in the interest of Pakistan People's Party (PPP). About the February 18 elections, he said they had not accepted the results of the election because they were rigged. He condemned the incident of burying alive of five women in the district Jafferabad of Balochistan, and said "we can only fight with such type of inhuman tribal traditions by implementing Islamic system."
Earlier, in his address, he said that suicide bombing was prohibited in Islam and America and India were behind the suicide bombings and they were doing this to defame Islam. He also said that according to the teachings of Islam, "we should give the share of women in the inheritance." He said that Islam laid stress on giving education to the girls.
"It is your right to change the syllabus, but it is not your right to deprived any one from taking education," he added. He also said that world should acknowledge the basic right of Muslim women to cover themselves according to the commands of Almighty Allah. He said that Hijab was not the symbol of repression as it was trumpeted by the West.
