Residential sectors: CDA fails to initiate development work

04 Sep, 2008

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has failed to initiate development work in five residential sectors despite receiving extra charges from the allottees. Sources in CDA told Business Recorder on Wednesday that development works in sectors D-12, F-12, I-14, I-15 and I-16 were to be carried out by the authority but so far no progress has been made in this regard.
These sectors lack proper water drainage and sewerage systems. There is no gas and electricity whereas condition of the roads is worsening with each passing day. CDA has delayed development work in D-12 sector without any solid reason as it has already received amount from the allottees claiming skyrocketing cement prices.
Former prime minister Shaukat Aziz had also announced that the government would allot house on ownership basis to each and every low paid government servant in sector I- 14. But after the lapse of three years, the dreams of low-income group have yet to be fulfilled.
Similarly, I-15 that was to be allotted to the affected people of the Capital is being neglected and no uplift work has been initiated. In the case of I- 16, development work is still under consideration while CDA officials are making false statements about the allotment of plots to the people. On one hand the authority is opening a new sector while on the other work in the announced sectors are in doldrums.
