LHC declares Punjab government orders illegal

06 Sep, 2008

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has declared illegal the orders of Punjab Government blacklisting the petitioner company Khalid Rauf & Co. Petitioner-company contended that it had more than twenty years experience in the field of construction and had done mega projects all over the province. The Punjab government with mala-fide reasons ordered that this contractor (petitioner) shall henceforth not to be eligible for future projects.
The government issued show cause notice and the order of black listing were communicated to the petitioner-company on the same date, counsel Ali Zafar argued while adding that the notices was a sham and the entire process amounts to violating the principles of natural justice and contrary to the fundamental right of the petitioner to carry out a lawful business of construction. The court after hearing all the parties declared the blacklisting order to be illegal and set aside the government orders.
