UN chief calls for avoiding civilian casualties

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called for avoiding civilian casualties while declining comments on this week's US attack on a Pakistani border village in which innocent lives were lost.
"We have asked over and over again that the number of civilians, what they call collateral damage, be really reduced," his spokesperson Michele Montas said while responding to questions at the regular briefing on Friday.
