Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce, M A Rauf Siddiqui has emphasised the need for holding Bachat Bazaars in all cities of the provinces. Inaugurating the 15th Eid Bachat Bazaar of Site Association of Industry (SAI) here on Friday, he observed that in all other countries of the world on their religious events prices of goods are decreased whereas in Pakistan on Eid and other Islamic occasions prices register 100 to 300 percent jump.
He appreciated SAI efforts for providing goods at 15 to 25 percent discount rates to general public and industrial workers in Ramazan and Eid. Referring to law and order and rising street crimes, he assured the business community that he would take up the issue with the minister concerned.
He informed businessmen that the government had already approved increase in Site water quota in K-III project. Notification in this regard would be issued shortly, he added.
He advised industrialists to contact nearest police station or MQM head office in case any individual and party worker demanded Zakat or donations.
Speaking on the occasion, Former president KCCI, Siraj Kassam Teli said that the general public were facing hardship due to ever-increasing prices of essential items, interest rates, power, gas and water tariffs. He said that the political leaders were making no efforts to reduce general public problems. They only care for their seat and political position.
Welcoming the guests, Chairman SAI, Muhammad Nisar Sheikhani said that the government had increased 31 percent power tariff without consulting National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). This increase would lead to closure on many industries, he added. He said that KESC has recently increased duel adjustment charges.
