Khawaja Muhammad Jalaluddin Roomi, President Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) congratulated Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday on his successful election as the new President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
He expressed the hope that after achieving the cherished goal of complete restoration of democracy in the country, the new leadership would put Pakistan on the path of development and progress by making visionary and prudent policies to stabilise the economy, which is in doldrums these days.
He said the present government is in an ideal situation to deliver to the masses as its President and rime Minister are from the same party and thus they would have complete identity of views on all important issues enabling them to come out with unanimous decisions for solution of all challenging problems.
He also lauded the conciliatory approach of the PPP which is in coalition in centre as well as in all the four provinces and hoped that the present government would maintain this healthy and co-operative relationship with all its coalition partners including PML (N) in Punjab so that all energies are focused on making country's economy strong and robust.
Roomi said that PPP has a history of sacrifices for the country and the party sacrificed even the cream of its leadership, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who always fought for the cause of poor people and expressed optimism that Zardari, who himself remained in jail for 11 years, would pick up their mission from where they had left to uplift the living standards of poor masses by giving them a better future.
MCCI president said the leadership of PPP and PML (N) had signed an agreement in London to restore complete democracy in the country and with the election of Zardari as President, this goal has almost been achieved.
