It s believed that the deadline for the return of Afghan refugees is being extended for another four years effective 2009. The leftover Afghans have been a source of concern for the citizens of the country as they have often been involved in crimes like thefts, dacoities, murders, bomb blasts, gambling and other anti-social activities.
In Peshawar where one of their camp was closed down police confirmed a decline in crime rate of the city. We have taken a heavy lead of these refugees and sheltered, fed, clothed and gave them opportunity to establish businesses at the cost of our own citizens. They dread returning to their country due to uncertain law and order situation, economic crunch, bombings and shellings. We need to push them across the border for out own safety and interest.
If not, Afghan refugees should be restricted to camps located at one designated place in Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab. The UN and the Afghan government should run these camps under UN control keeping in view the food and electricity crisis in the country this will relieve pressure on the citizens of the country.
