PML-N conveys strong reservations on Taseer's statements

The PML-N has conveyed its strong reservations on the statements of governor Punjab Salman Taseer against the provincial government and the party leadership, informed sources told Business Recorder on Monday. They said that PML-N also suggested to the president-elect that the party would accept any other PPP leader in the capacity of the governor.
This step will pave the way for strategic partnership between the PPP and the PML-N at central and provincial levels to strengthen the democratic process, the sources said. There were some reports that PPP had instructed Taseer not to indulge in mudslinging of the PML-N and its government in Punjab. However, the PPP has so far not yielded to the PML-N demand.
Political analysts are of the view that the two mainstream parties are unlikely to go along if the Punjab governor continued with his 'irresponsible' attitude. PML-N has suggested that there are well-deserved people in the PPP and one of them should be appointed as the governor. However, the PPP is of the view that it would reassess the situation after some time. It will be seen whether Taseer corrects his attitude, the sources added.
