The Lahore High Court on Monday refused custody of a teenage girl to her maternal grandmother and sent her to Darul Amaan. The judge sent the girl to Darul Amaan as she submitted that she wanted to live in Darul Amaan. The judge also directed the Darul Amaan administration to provide medical facility to her, whenever she required.
Bashiran Bibi submitted in her petition that her granddaughter, Hina Akram, was living in Darul Amaan on direction of the LHC. She submitted that Hina married Muhammad Sheraz without informing her parents. Her father forcefully detained her in his house to bar her from living with her husband. On a habeas corpus petition of her father-in-law, LHC sent her to the Darul Amaan and since then she was living there.
Bashiran submitted that Hina wanted to live with her but not with her parents. She requested the court to issue directions to the Darul Amaan administration to give her (Hina) into her custody. She added that her husband also had divorced her. On Monday appearing before the court, Hina submitted that she did not want to live with her parents or her grandmother. She further submitted that she did not believe that her husband had divorced her, adding that they might have prepared fake divorce documents.
