09 Sep, 2008

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon on Monday directed District Police Officer (DPO), Sargodha, to register a case against SHO Mela for exonerating an accused from the criminal charges despite the fact they were held guilty in the first investigation.
The court also set aside DPO's order to hold a second investigation into the case and directed DPO to take disciplinary action against SHO. The petitioner Fateh Muhammad pleaded that Babar and other armed persons attacked him and injured him severely. He said Mela police registered a case against accused and found them guilty in the first investigation.
He pointed out that DPO without prior recommendation from Standing board changed the investigation and in the second investigation accused were declared innocent. He said under the law second investigation could not be held without the permission of standing board. He therefore prayed the court to set aside DPO order for the change of investigation and got register a crimnial case against SHO for his illegal action.
