US rice limit-up

10 Sep, 2008

US rough rice futures on the Chicago Board of Trade rose the daily trading limit by midmorning on Monday on concerns about US harvest delays following recent heavy rains, traders said. As of 10:30 am CDT (1430 GMT), most-active November rice was up the 50-cent daily limit at $19.60 per hundredweight.
Thinly traded September, now in delivery and trading without limits, was up 60 cents at $19.50 per hundredweight. More than 10 inches of rain have fallen so far this month in key US rice areas, including parts of Louisiana to Arkansas - compared to normal amounts of less than an inch.
