Police told to accelerate drive against criminals

Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Pervez Rathore has directed Police to accelerate the campaign against gambling dens, Qabza groups, brothels, use of illegal SIMS and loud speakers in Lahore district.
Presiding over a meeting of senior police officers held here on Thursday to review the progress of the campaign against various crimes, CCPO Muhammad Pervez Rathore said the police officers should work with zeal and commitment for the eradication of crimes.He said that curbing of minor crimes can help in the prevention of major crimes.
The meeting was informed that Lahore police has achieved major success in its drive against criminals. It was informed that 925 cases have been registered and 940 persons have been arrested for violation of Price Control Act. Similarly, 227 cases have been registered and 241 persons have been arrested for overcharging of flour.
Moreover, in the drive against kite-flying, 845 cases have been registered, 884 persons have been arrested which has resulted in controlling kite-flying in the city to a great extent.
The meeting was also informed that 75 persons have been arrested and 72 cases have been registered for illegal use of mobile SIMs. Similarly, 2,074 gamblers have been nabbed and 811 cases registered in the special campaign against gambling dens while 770 persons have been arrested and 191 cases registered in the drive against Qabza groups.
Similarly, 176 cases have been registered against brothels and 917 persons have been arrested. Meanwhile Police registered 47 cases and arrested 45 persons for illegal use of loud speakers. The CCPO has said that strict action would be taken against police officials patronising criminals. He called upon police officers to seek the co-operation of people in the efforts for eradication of crimes.
