Minor girl's rape case: arrest warrants for doctor, policemen issued

An additional district and sessions judge Qamar Ijaz on Saturday issued fresh arrest warrants for a doctor and three other prosecution witnesses for delaying in recording their statements in a trial of a rape case of seven years old orphan girl. On previous date of hearing, the court had issued warrants to Dr Abid of Tehsil Head Quarter Hospital Mureedke, Sub Inspector (Investigation) and Moharrir of Police Station Narang Mandi.
Sub-inspector however, made his appearance before the court on Saturday but his statement could not be recorded due to unavailability of counsel of accused. The court issued fresh warrants of rest of witnesses who did not appear before the court.
The judge is holding trial of rape accused Zubair who, according to prosecution, on March 11, 2008 criminally assaulted a seven years old girl Tayyaba with help of Talha, Muzammal and Muzaffar. The court had already recorded the statements of five witnesses including victim Tayyaba, a lady doctor who conducted victim's medical examination and victim's mother.
