Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has stressed the need of constitution of a working group on the pattern of US Congress working group to resolve longstanding Kashmir issue. A Joint Parliamentary group consisting of all parliamentary parties will be constituted to raise Kashmir issue with India to pave way for peaceful solution of Kashmir issue.
Prime Minister said this while talking to Senator Raza Rabbani, the Leader of the House in Senate, who called on him at the PM's House on Saturday. He said that it is need to resolve all outstanding issues with India to give peace a chance and gear up the economic activities for betterment of people. Gilani said that the election of the leader of country's major political party as the President of Pakistan has completed democratic process and strengthened democratic institutions in the country.
He said that he has sent the advice to President of Pakistan for his address to joint session of the Parliament in compliance with the constitution. "The newly elected President has been advised to address the joint session of Parliament on the 20th September at 3:00 pm, in which he will highlight his priorities to bail out country from the economic crisis.
Raza Rabbani apprised the Prime Minister about the progress of the parliamentary group to develop the national consensus for having dialogue with India for the settlement of all outstanding issues including the core issue of Kashmir. He said that all the political parties of the country would be taken on board in the Kashmir Parliamentary group.
