LHC directs petitioner to pay 1,75,000 to former wife

17 Sep, 2008

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed Bashir Ahmed to pay Rs 1,75,000 to his former wife as maintenance and issued notices to his ex-wife Shazia. The petitioner has challenged the order of a family court, which had obliged the husband to pay Rs 5,000 per month to his two sons each.
The judge directed him to pay Rs 100,000 till September 30 and remaining Rs 75,000 should be paid till October 15. The court passed these orders on undertaking of the petitioner to pay the amount to his former wife and his two sons living with their mother.
Petitioner Bashir Ahmed submitted that he got married with Shazia Kausar and out of that wedlock they had two sons Shoaib (10) and Sohaib (11). He was living in Kauwait with her but after some time Shazia wanted to return to Pakistan. Shazia filed suit for maintenance before an Additional District & Sessions Judge Sheikhupura, which had issued decree in her favour. The LHC while suspending the impugned judgement issued notice to Shazia for September 29.
