Minister for role of academia in research to promote poultry farming

With a view to extend the research facilities for the advancement of poultry science besides promoting the commercial and backyard poultry farming in the province, Sindh Minister for Livestock Abdul Haq Bhurt has asked the concerned authority to involve the academia in research activities.
The Sindh Directorate of Poultry Production and Research has recently offered the poultry research facilities at the directorate set up at the faculty of veterinary science of Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam. According to a letter officially dispatched to the faculty, the recent developments in the directorate has captured the attention of national and international poultry organisations towards trials and researches.
The research offer will include facilities at pathology division ie H. I. test, AGP test, rapid test against avian influenza, eliza facility, virus isolation, bacterial culture, sensitivity tests and plate agglutination test. Similarly at the nutrition division, crude protein analysis, crude fat analysis, crude fever analysis, total ash detection and a facility for detecting the percentage of NACL in feed and water moisture will be available.
The directorate will also provide research facilities of candling, sexing, incubation and hatchery, automatic egg grading and artificial insemination at the breeding and incubation division. Sheds, facilities of floor birds, facilities of cage birds and brooding house will be offered at the housing management division, while data regarding prices of poultry commodities will be provided at marketing and economic division.
