17 Sep, 2008

Provincial Labour Minister Amir Nawab on Tuesday directed that emergency steps be taken for maintaining effective hygienic conditions in all the Sessi hospitals and dispensaries as a protective measure in view of growing number of dengue-affected patients.
Chairing a meeting in this regard, he said immediate spray be carried out outside hospitals as well. The minister said that to protect labourers and workers from dengue fever, spray be conducted inside and outside the factories throughout the province in co-operation with respective Town Nazims.
He also sought co-operation of industrialists as well in this regard. He pointed out that since there was no specific treatment for this disease nor any effective vaccine available, preventive steps alone offered protection against dengue. On the occasion, senior Medical Officer gave details about the type of virus and symptoms of dengue bite. Labour Minister said that to create awareness among workers, a documentary on this disease would soon be produced.
