Efforts on to restore confidence of public, business community: Sindh Governor

Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan has said that the government is making all possible efforts to restore confidence of business community and provide relief to the general public. Speaking at an Iftar dinner at the residence of the President of Pakistan Industrial Promotion Forum (PIPF) and Honorary Consul General of Mozambique Khalid Tawab on Thursday.
He said that the general public and business community have high hopes that the present government will provide them relief and fulfil their expectations. He admitted that the country is facing serious economic and external crises, which need proper attention and well-calculated moves to resolve them. He said that he has consulted economic issues with the provincial government and added that they are making efforts to improve economic and law and order conditions in the province.
Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce M A Rauf Siddiqui informed the business community that the government has made a plan to appoint one SSP in each industrial estate of Karachi and one DIG for industrial areas. He said he hoped that after appointment of SSPs and DIG the rate of crime would be reduced considerably.
He said that he has proposed establishment of 200 mw power station in each industrial estate of the city to meet the power requirement. S M Munir said that the industrial sector was passing through a very critical time. He emphasised the need of holding frequent meetings with representatives of the government to apprise them of the problems faced by industrialists so that they should understand what's going on and take appropriate measures to resolve them.
Khalid Tawab emphasised the need of preparing new economic policies in consultation with business community to bring the country out of present crises. Criticising the meagre reduction in petrol price by Rs 5 per litre he said that reduction in petrol price must be more than Rs 20 per litre. He also criticised increase in diesel and kerosene prices and said that it amounted to increased burden on poor people.
