People belonging to various walks of life have expressed their mixed reaction on address of President Asif Ali Zardari to the parliament and termed it a balanced speech in Sialkot, Daska, Pasrur and Sambrial tehsils of Sialkot district.
They said that it was heartening to note that President has pledged to further strengthen the relations with Islamic countries and developing long-term ties with United States of America and European countries.
They also appreciated the restarting of "Composite Dialogue" with India for resolving various issues including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. They further said that President has also vowed to further strengthen the strategic relations with China, which would touch the new heights of friendship.
They said that President Asif Ali Zardari has stressed the need to discourage politics of confrontation and destruction for the larger national interest of the country. We could overcome on multifarious political issues by acting upon the confrontation-free politics and strengthen the democratic norms in the country, they added.
While some people commenting on the speech said that it was totally unclear and the President has failed in highlighting the real challenges being confronted to the country. No positive announcement has been made for the restoration of deposed judges in the speech, they said.
They said that President has failed in highlighting and indicating the solutions of the various challenges confronting to the country such as poverty and price hike to facilitate the common man.
They further said that common man facing serious hardships due to price hike as a result of which ratio of suicide incidents was increasing with every passing day. Meanwhile, the local journalist community has hailed the decision of President Asif Ali Zardari for establishing housing colonies in the country and it should be given practical shape to facilitate the journalist community.
