Floods across much of Thailand have left 14 people dead and more than 50,000 sick from disease borne water the past 10 days, a department of public health official said Saturday. Permanent Secretary for Public Health Praj Boonyawongvirot said most of the sick suffered from colds, diarrhea and itching and his ministry had sent medical units to flooded areas to care for them.
The floods also destroyed crops and damaged other fields and food shortages were expected due to the losses, the government-run Thai News Agency reported Saturday.
