The son of Federal Law and Justice Minister Farooq H Naek narrowly escaped an injury as the shattered glasses of windows and doors showered in and around him immediately after the Marriott blasts.
Minister of Law and Justice Farooq H Naek on Sunday told a private TV channel that his son was sitting on a sofa, watching a football match soon after Iftar on Saturday. At end of the match, he got up to go to wash room. Exactly on that moment the huge blast occurred in nearby Marriott hotel.
He escaped injury as he had left the place where the pieces of glasses and metal landed like rain and destroyed everything at that place. A huge piece of metal also landed inside Naek's house through shattered window that caused considerable damages to his belongings.
He said he has sent his son to his mother in Karachi as there was no proper place to sleep in his house right now. Everything was broken - the window panes, glasses, TV set, furniture and computer. Naek's entire house was severely damaged as a result of blast.
He urged the nation to get united and join hands to eliminate terrorism from the country. On a question, he said it was an Iftar time and everybody was relaxed and busy in breaking his fast and offering his prayers. He said this is the handiwork of anti-democratic, anti-Pakistan and anti-Islam forces.
