Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi Sunday said that Pakistan is a welfare state and the government was committed to form pro-people policies for providing maximum social amenities to the people. He was addressing a ceremony jointly organised by NGOs "Awam
International" and "Al Ain International UK" for distribution of Eid gifts and food items amongst the poor and needy people. Deputy Speaker said the welfare activities were part of Islamic teachings and all other divine religions and those involved in these activities were blessed people.
He said Muslims should participate and contribute maximum in the welfare activities particularly during the month of holy Raman. He said due to lack of resources, the government alone could not do all that was required from a welfare state, therefore, the role of private sector and NGOs was important to cover the gap.
He appreciated the role of the "Awam International" and Al Ain International. UK" for providing Eid gifts and food items to the poor and needy people during the month of Raman. The Deputy Speaker urged the other NGO in the country and the well-off people of the society to come forward and help their needy brethren during and after the month of Raman.
The Deputy Speaker also condemned the Saturday bomb blast at Marriott Hotel that killed many innocent people. He prayed for solace of the souls of victims and early recovery of the injured.
