The Chief Engineer Irrigation Kotri Barrage Hyderabad Manzoor Ahmed Shaikh here today has informed that due to abrupt fall, the discharge downstream Sukkur Barrage has reduced to 17000 cusecs, which might further reduce in next few days.
Consequently, the discharge upstream Kotri Barrage will also reduce drastically. He said that the anticipated discharge will be distributed equitably and as per share of all the four off-taking canals from Kotri Barrage Headworks. He further informed the all stakeholders of Kotri Barrage that Kotri Barrage will be around 30 percent to 40 percent and directed to all the canal officers to ensure proper and equitable water distribution within their command.
He also directed them to ensure non-existence of any irregularity and wastage of irrigation supplies into the drains. He also advised the land owners khatedars to economies the intake of irrigation supplies to their lands as per need basis and to avoid wastage of water into the drains. However, he assured that the administration of Kotri Barrage will ensure equitable water distribution as well as deploy all possible efforts to provide available water with minimum fluctuation of gauges.
