'NGOs to be encouraged to work for poverty eradication'

Sindh Minister for Women Development Tauqir Fatima Bhutto has said that PPP government was working on multi-dimensional strategy for encouraging non-government organisations (NGOs) to work for the eradication of poverty from the society.
She was addressing Eid gifts' distribution ceremony among the destitute persons organised by the management of Al-Umed Lions Club at VIP Garden Latifabad No 7 on Sunday night.
Tauqir Fatima said that the government has decided to launch Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Food card, and started the process of employment to eradicate unemployment. She said that government would welcome and encourage the NGOs engaged in welfare works to achieve such objectives.
She said that there were many deserving and destitute, who possess good potential but lacking opportunities. She said that such destitute could be converted into working force of the country.
She urged philanthropists, industrialists and other well to do persons to come forward and cooperate with government by initiating business activities, providing income and employment opportunities to the poor and unskilled people of our society so that the rate of poverty could be minimised. She assured the management of Al-Umed Lions Club Hyderabad for providing assistance in organising free eye camp at Hyderabad during next month.
