Government condemns kidnapping of Farahi

The Government of Pakistan strongly condemned the kidnapping of Abdul Khaliq Farahi, Consul General of Afghanistan in Peshawar and the Ambassador-designate to Pakistan on Monday afternoon in Hayatabad area, Peshawar. In the unfortunate incident, the driver of Farahi lost his life.
The Government of Pakistan assured the Government of Afghanistan and the family of the Ambassador-designate that it is taking all necessary measures for his safe and early recovery. The Government of Pakistan also extends its deep condolences to the family of deceased driver.
Earlier, Ambassador-designate of Afghanistan to Pakistan Abdul Khaliq Farahi, was travelling in his car and his vehicle was fired upon in Phase-4 of Hayatabad, Peshawar. Afghan Embassy spokesman and Commercial Attaché Noor Mohammad informed that Farahi served for a long-time in Afghan Consulate Peshawar. After the incident the kidnapper took away Afghan Ambassador-designate with them, he added.
