YDA vows to continue protest

The Young Doctors' Association (YDA), Multan, on Monday vowed to continue protest till the fulfilment of its demands, said a press release. A meeting of the association's representatives was held here under the chairmanship of Dr Salman Waris, president of PMA Multan Chapter.
The meeting decided that the young doctors would set up weekly protest camp at Nishtar Hospital on each Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm as usual, and wear black armbands during their working hours at hospitals. Doctors' demands included Rs 25,000 per month fixed salary for house officers.
While Rs 35,000 for postgraduate residents along with free accommodation, recruitment through the Punjab Public Service Commission, increase in number of paid seats for house job, salaries for the non-paid doctors, announcement of service structure for young doctors and health policy, and improved security arrangements at hospitals.-PR
