Now that the democratic government is in place, it is time to address the multitude of problems faced by the nation. First and foremost is to address the problems of the people of FATA, many of whom have, in the garb of Taliban, raised their arms and against innocent people of Pakistan, to avenge their vengeance against the alien forces from across the Durand Line.
Pakistan is a developing nation and as such should avoid entanglement in others affairs. If someone has a problem against anyone, we as a developing nation should avoid involvement in the affairs of others.
If one looks at the basic problem which has been instrumental in the free movement of the people living around the Durand Line, is that it has not been recognised as a legal boundary by the people living on either side of the border. If the Durand Line is recognised as legal border, the problem of infiltration will be minimised and the tribal people living on our side will not be made scapegoat with an excuse of harbouring terrorists.
On account of disturbed conditions created by the undesirable elements, peace of the country at large has been affected resulting in the creation of chaotic situations, which has become instrumental in the downward trend of the economy, because investors are very sensitive people and they shift their investments to safer places where they can have peace of mind and reap the benefits in peace.
The immediate solution to salvage the situation seems to be that in order to arrest the downward trend of economy, the government should take such measures as can provide assurance to the investors of safety and security. Besides, the government should set up group of professional people, who should plan out ways and means to arrest the decay in the existing system. Expenditure in all sectors should be rationalised and should be ensured to remain within budgeted forecasts.
Karachi, being the backbone of the revenue generation of the country, should never be treated as a step child, but should be given the top priority it deserves in providing funds for making the city worth its importance. Karachi should never ever face the problems it is facing now, in the form of power failures and many more.
Government should embark upon patronising and promoting indigenous products and ban the import of all such products which are produced locally, which can also bring about relief in balancing the budget.
