The lawyers in Multan and other parts of south Punjab observed a complete strike on Thursday to press the government for the reinstatement of Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and other judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts. Naveed Rana General Secretary High Court Bar Association (HCBA) said that the lawyers boycotted courts' proceedings on Thursday due to strike as per decision of the HCBA and in response to call made by Pakistan Bar Council.

He said the lawyers would continue their protest against the failure of the government to reinstate all deposed judges including Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. He said that lawyers did not appear before the High Court benches and the subordinate courts, however, they appeared in bail matters in view of Eid-ul-Fitr.
