Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has decided to check and verify the documents of heavy vehicles before allowing them entry into capital, while frequently coming vehicles will be issued special cards.
The dumper trucks carrying construction material would be checked and contractor record along with the construction site would also be verified from CDA, the sources in ICT told Business Recorder on Thursday.
They said that the vehicles carrying consumer goods would also be checked and cleared by the authorities immediately without any inconvenience to the business community. Moreover, the traders could also get the vehicles cleared after verifying the details from the concerned Station House Officer (SHO) or Secretary, Islamabad Transport Authority, they added.
The sources said that these decisions were made to beef up the security. Security of commercial centres would be further enhanced by installing security cameras and set up monitoring rooms in markets, they said.
They said that the trained security guards would be deployed in markets and parking would be further streamlined to ensure the security of shopping centres. In first phase, security cameras would be installed in Super Market, Jinnah Super and Blue Area while the trader community would expand this camera network in other markets, they said.
The sources said that market associations have been directed to keep contacts with the police to ensure timely help to the community. A vigorous anti beggary drive especially against the professional beggars would be launched while deserving and needy beggars would be rehabilitated and provided social security. The ICT administration has also decided to further beef up security of worship places while security arrangements for Chand Raat and Eid congregations would be also made public within a day or two, they added.
