Drug inspector held

Chehalyak Police have arrested a drug inspector Fayyaz Rasul for destroying the challan of a drug agency (A-Zee) owned by Shaikh Muhammad Bilal after extorting bribe of Rs 0.5 million, abusing his powers. He was booked under section 23(1) (a) (i) and 27(1) (a).
The case was instituted against him on the complaint of Muhammad Suleman son of Fayyaz Hussain, proprietor of Faiz Medicine Company, Multan, who lodged a complaint with health department that he had purchase a medicine "Phenobaritone" of Anglo-Pak Company Karachi from A-Zee agency of Shaikh Bilal which was found "spurious."
He informed the health authorities on February 14, 2008 along with Mujahid Islam. The Drug Inspector Fayyaz Rasul informed the EDO (H) and raided the Shaikh Bilal's shop along with another two drug inspectors Chaudhry Muhammad Zubair and Ehsan Ahmed Lothar and seized huge quantity of spurious drugs.
He submitted the sample of the medicine to the laboratory which declared it "spurious" through a test report No TRA 4522/OTL dated March 05,2008. He informed the press about this, which was given proper coverage by print media as well as electronic media. Later he destroyed the challan of the case after greasing his palm and extorting bribe of Rs 0.5 million.
