Chairperson Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) Asma Jahangir has said that government should convene All Parties Conference and evolve a strategy to fight against the militancy and terrorism in the country. She also said that polices of the present government is the continuation of the policies of the previous government.
She was addressing a press conference along with the members of the HRCP on the situation of Sawat and tribal areas here on Friday. She said that the government should give away the dual policy on so called war on terror. She said that the government was not serious in protecting the civilians. She also criticised the government for not appointing a minister for interior. She said that the present advisor on Interior was "advisor of security of VIP's" and has failed to provide security to the innocent people. She also said that operation against terrorists should be targeted and civilian population should not be affected in this operation.
She also demanded that there should be a strong intelligence system at provincial level. She said that Police is not properly equipped with latest weapons in troubled areas of Sawat and tribal areas and government should equipped them with latest equipment so that they should fight against the terrorists properly.
Speaking on the occasion Director HRCP I.A Rehman has said that media should visit the tribal areas so that they should know the real situation and told the people about the real situation based on facts. He also said the Pakistan's existence was in danger and we should bury our differences and solve our problems peacefully.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Mehdi Hassan and Mubahher Hassan has said that the no body can win a war without the support and co-operation of the people. They said that the majority of the people in these areas were against the extremists but they were hijacked by the hand full of extremists. They said that government should assured them they will protect them and they will help the government in forcing them out of their areas.
