According to press release issued by Fata Secretariat here Sunday, last year the community suffered from severe flood that destroyed not only their homes but also millions of rupees of crops in the village.
The Political Agent of Mohmand Agency, Shahidullah said the community of Pratha Kale were facing serious difficulties during monsoons and other rainy seasons as the water flow through the agriculture, ruining the crops and severely affecting the livelihoods of the local community.
He continued that since most of the houses in the area are constructed of mud, excess flood water seriously damages the homes of the locals. Moreover, streets in the village are unpaved and they become impassable with flood water, overflowing from the streams. Therefore, the government has started this project on a priority basis. The elders of the Mohmand Agency have appreciated the government for completing the project in time that will save their fields, crops and houses from flood water in future.
