Total US money market mutual fund assets decreased by $15.65 billion to $3.398 trillion in the week ended September 24, the Investment Company Institute said on Thursday. Retail money market fund assets fell by $7.27 billion to $1.237 trillion, the industry trade group said in its weekly report.
Institutional money market fund assets fell by $8.38 billion to $2.161 trillion in the week, it said. ICI said that within the retail group, taxable money market fund assets increased by $4.89 billion to $944.62 billion in the latest week, while tax-exempt fund assets fell by $12.16 billion to $292.35 billion. Among institutional funds, taxable money market fund assets increased by $2.03 billion to $1.977 trillion. Tax-exempt fund assets fell by $10.41 billion to $183.48 billion in the week, according to the report.
