Supply of Roti at Rs 2 will continue even after Ramazan: Shahbaz

Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that supply of Roti at Rs 2 will continue after Ramazan as well and Tandoor Committees comprising local people will be formed, which will ensure quality and price of Roti.
He was presiding over a high level meeting regarding provision of Roti to the people at cheaper rates at Chief Minister's Secretariat here on Tuesday. Provincial Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Chairman Task Force Samiullah Chaudhry, MPAs Khawaja Haroon, Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, Chief Secretary Punjab, Addl. Chief Secretary, Secretaries of concerned departments as well as senior officers were present.
He said that private people will also be given representation in these committees and they will be empowered. He said that these committees would help and supplement the efforts of the government for the supply of Roti to the citizens at Rs 2.
It may be mentioned that Chief Minister went straight to the meeting after his return to Lahore from Saudi Arabia after performing Umra. The Chief Minister said that supply of Roti to the people at subsidised rates would continue even after Ramzan and a target of 30,000 Tandoors has been set up for the provision of subsidised atta so that Roti at Rs 2 could also be available in far-flung and remote areas of the province.
He said that the target of Sasta Tandoors will be achieved within a month. The Chief Minister was informed that about 13,000 Tandoors have been enlisted for provision of subsidised atta upon, which the Chief Minister directed that another 20,000 Tandoors be enlisted within next 15 days and included in Sasta Tandoor Programme.
He said that electronic Tandoors will also be set up on experimental basis in some major cities of the province. He further directed that stern action be taken against the elements involved in hoarding, profiteering and smuggling without any discrimination as no one can be allowed to exploit the masses.
The Chief Minister further said that the same spirit and determination as was displayed during Ramzan for ensuring provision of necessities including atta will have to be shown throughout the year for the benefit of the masses.
