Pervaiz Malik becomes LABARD president

01 Oct, 2008

The governing body of the Lahore Businessmen Association for Rehabilitation of Disabled (LABARD) on Tuesday unanimously elected former MNA Mohammad Pervaiz Malik as its President.
The governing body also elected Bushra Aitzaz as Secretary General, Mian Nusratuddin Senior Vice President, Mohammad Farooq Naseem Vice President, Madiha Aijaz Joint Secretary, Saeed Khan Finance Secretary and Ahmer Malik Secretary Information.
Soon after his election, the newly elected LABARD President, Mohammad Pervaiz Malik, thanked the members of the governing body for reposing confidence in him. He said that he would continue to serve the ailing humanity with dedication and the confidence given by the LABARD governing body would help him solve the challenges being faced by the disabled persons.
An emotionally charged Pervaiz Malik said that in the year 1996 when the LBARD was established under the umbrella of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), he had no idea that one day it would become one of the leading NGOs of the country that are providing necessary services to the disabled persons. Pervaiz Malik said that the disabled persons in Pakistan are facing more challenges than those residing in developed world so we all should collectively and individually play their due role so that these people could become effective members of the society.
He said, "More than 3.5 million people are disabled and this number is not very big when it is compared with the resources we do. So the stigma of disability could be removed forever with a little well directed effort. He promise that he would leave no stone unturned in making the disabled persons the effective members of the society.
