04 Oct, 2008

People from different socio-political circles have strongly criticised the government for its weak foreign policy stressed the need of reshaping as early as possible. The government should pay especial attention to further strengthen relations with China and Russia so as to avert certain threats to its geographical and ideological fronts, they suggested.
Many observed that most of the countries including the United States of America are betraying Pakistan despite tall claims of friendship. They were of the view that USA was trying its utmost to become a ' Policeman' in Asia on the basis of power and in the name of war against terrorism just for its own interests. Further, 'The vivid fact is that the USA was facing Vietnam like defeat in Afghanistan and is trying to expand the war,' the concerned persons of society viewed.
The hard fact is that Pakistan was playing its pivotal role in war against terrorism, was paying heavy price but allied forces were busy in attacking Pakistani boundaries and killing the innocent citizens.
Moreover, it is regrettable that our leadership was busy only in 'Lip service and the diplomacy completely failed in wining the confidence of its friends, they supposed. Furthermore, the socio-political circles pointed out that people hate the USA for its double standard and criticised the government for becoming a stooge.
Referring to the types of deals made during the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari with the USA and India, the government should take the parliament and all political parties into confidence.
Under the prevailing international and internal situation, all the political parties especially, the opposition parties should play their dominating role in protecting the geographical and ideological fronts of the country, they said.
