A delegation of World Bank (WB) led by Tehseen Syed visited the secretariat, Punjab Education Foundation (PEF), Lahore recently. The purpose of the visit was to review the progress of the education foundation programmes such as progress of work on the Foundation Assisted Programme (Phase- v), New School Programme (NSP) and Education Voucher Scheme (EVS).
The delegation appreciated the work done by PEF for imparting quality education and pointed that foundation should continue working as an autonomous unit. Secretary Education (schools) and Managing Director, PEF, Nadeem Ashraf briefed the delegation about the decisions taken in its 36th meeting of the Board of Directors concerning the new policy of phase- v of the FAS programme, expansion in the funding of the programmes and quality assurance test for teachers.
Ashraf told the delegation about audit report of the foundation for the year 2005-2007 issued by the Auditor General of Pakistan and M/S Riaz Ahmed and Company Charted Accountants showing satisfaction over the accounts of the Foundation.
He also told that the Board of Directors of the Foundation had shown satisfaction over the audit reports and approved the expenditure of the Foundation for the year 2008-2009 as per the recommendations of the finance committee. The Deputy Managing Director (PEF), Rana Muhammad Arif and directors of the programme of PEF also attended the meeting.
