People's Lawyers Forum (PLF), Punjab, declared Justice Hameed Dogar as constitutional Chief Justice and said that there could not be two chief justices in the country at a time.
While addressing a join press conference with PLF Punjab general secretary Khawar Mehmood Khatana and secretary information Rana Sufian Arshad,PLF President Khurram Latif Khan Khosa said Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) had also declared Justice Dogar as constitutional chief justice.
Earlier, during a joint meeting of its representatives from all districts of Punjab, had adopted the resolutions to pose confidence in leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Yousaf Raza Gilani, he informed the journalists.
He further said remaining sacked judges still have standing offer from the government to rejoin the judiciary, adding that PLF was with the lawyers' movement, but it could not believe in restoration of a 'single person.'
He said the movement would continue till the supremacy of rule of law, supervision of shelter, bread, and clothing to the people of Pakistan. He said the legal fraternity should support the government to curb terrorism.
He also said that only the PPP workers sacrifice for the restoration of democracy. Khosa said that in the meeting to adjust the PLF lawyers preliminary charter of demands also formed wherein they proposed that there should be residential colonies for lawyers, chambers for novice lawyers, facility of treatment in all government hospitals and old age benefit for old lawyers.
